Adoption is a Great Way to “Make Disciples”

“A father to the fatherless, a defender of widows, is God in his holy dwelling. God sets the lonely in families…” (Psalm 68:5). We want to see God’s heart of compassion toward orphans expressed right here in Melbourne and Palm Bay.

But how is this possible?

When you hear that there are 143,000,000 orphans in the world, it is so easy to feel overwhelmed about making a difference. But when you hear that if just one family out of every three churches in the US would adopt a child from foster care, there would be no children left in foster care in this country. Or if just one family out of every three churches in the US would adopt an abandoned child in China, we could completely empty the orphanages in that country! Now THAT is “doable”!

How can you get involved?

In the coming months, we would like to dialogue about how we as the Christian Community in Melbourne/Palm Bay can network to enable more of the world’s orphans to be adopted into Christian families. Are you an attorney who can help in legal areas to make adoption not so prohibitive? Or a frequent flyer who could donate miles for a family to travel to bring home their child? Or a physical therapist or doctor that could give support to a family taking the leap of faith to care for a child with special needs? Or a psychologist or teacher who could help a child with emotional problems or developmental delays?
