Prayer Ministries
Jesus said, "If you remain in me and my words remain in you, ask whatever you wish, and it will be given you" (John 15:7).
At Covenant, we believe that a healthy prayer life isn't possible without a deep, personal relationship with Jesus Christ ("If you remain in me...") and without the nourishment, conviction, and guidance of God's Word ("...and my words remain in you"). But look at how great the promise is! When we are connected to our Savior in these ways, Jesus promises to answer our prayers ("ask whatever you wish, and it will be given you.") Do you believe it? Do you act on it?
Healthy prayer is both individual and corporate.
- Individual - Spending time with God in prayer privately, when nobody else is looking, is absolutely essential to the Christian Life (Matt 6:6). If you have a family, you should also be praying with and for your spouse and children. No church "program" can makes this happen -- this is your personal responsibility before God.
- Corporate - Spending time with God with fellow believers is also essential (Matt 18:19). Whether it's "grass roots" prayer groups, or planned prayer events (see below), we the Church will not be able to advance against the kingdom of darkness without praying shoulder-to-shoulder, back-to-back (Eph 6:13-18).
